Goucher to be in town, as spectator; Anchorage hires coach; Crunch season ends

Duluthian Kara Goucher has a busy week, running the 10,000-meter event Thursday at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, and then driving to Duluth to watch Saturday’s Grandma’s Marathon and USA Half Marathon Championships. A News Tribune update is here.

The Syracuse Crunch and J.T. Brown ended their season Tuesday night, losing to Grand Rapids (Mich.) 5-2 in the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup championship series in Syracuse, N.Y. Grand Rapids won the series 4-2. The Syracuse Post-Standard has stories here and here.
