First-time marathoner prepared for Grandma’s; Syracuse Crunch stays alive in AHL playoffs; McLeod looking forward to WCHA of 2013-14

A first-time marathoner from Duluth (Vinnie Surges) and a runner from Superior entered in his 106th race (Tim Sandor) are featured in the News Tribune leading to Saturday’s 37th Grandma’s Marathon here.

J.T. Brown and the Syracuse Crunch stayed alive in the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup championship series with a 5-2 road victory Saturday night against Grand Rapids (Mich.) The series returns to Syracuse, N.Y., on Tuesday. Grand Rapids leads 3-2. A Saturday game story from the Syracuse Post-Standard here.
