Anchorage coach search; Herb Brooks honored; Pegula rink; Boston Marathon with Tom Friedman and Leigh Montville

Doyle Woody of the Anchorage Daily News has an update on Alaska Anchorage’s search for a coach to replace the fired Dave Shyiak. Among the four candidates is Chris Brown, 42, a former Anchorage assistant and presently head coach at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. The story is here.

St. Cloud State has a news release on the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn., being renamed for the late Herb Brooks. That release is here and video of Wednesday’s press conference is here.

Penn State enters the Big Ten hockey conference in 2013-14 and opens 6,000-seat Pegula Arena. The school’s website has a virtual tour and there are many similarities to Amsoil Arena. The virtual tour is on YouTube¬†here.
