Runner Kara Goucher and her family, including mother, Patty Wheeler of Duluth, are safe in their downtown hotel Monday following the aftermath of two bombings at the finish line of the 117th Boston Marathon.
Goucher, from Portland, Ore., her husband, Adam, and 2 1/2-year old son, Colt, along with Patty Wheeler and daughter, Kelly Grgas Wheeler of Duluth, were out of the finish line area when two bombs exploded about 1:57 p.m. CDT. The News Tribune talked with Patty Wheeler by phone at the hotel, a half-block from the finish line.
The News Tribune also talked with others in Boston who are Duluth-connected including marathoner Gregg Robertson, 42, and wife, Kari, who are also safe.
