Minnesota Duluth gets a final trip to Madison

Minnesota Duluth didn’t play at Wisconsin during the regular season of 2012-13 and Badger coach Mike Eaves says there are no plans to schedule UMD when the schools go to separate conferences in 2013-14.

So while it appeared the rivalry would be halted for the foreseeable future, UMD was paired against Wisconsin to open the WCHA playoffs starting Friday in Madison. The 7:07 p.m. games will be on 94.1 FM and My9 in the Twin Ports.

The Bulldogs are on a 4-0-1 streak helped by freshman stars Austin Farley, Tony Cameranesi and Andy Welinski, and by a hot power play. The News Tribune has an update here and Andy Baggot of the Wisconsin State Journal has a story on what the Badgers will do to slow UMD’s power play here.
