A 12-team league, like the WCHA, has scheduling quirks.
When Minnesota Duluth faces No. 2 Minnesota on Friday and Saturday at Mariucci Arena it will be the first meeting between the programs since Oct. 14-15, 2011. It will be the first time the Bulldogs have played in Minneapolis since Dec. 10 and 12, 2010, when the Saturday game was postponed to Sunday because of snow (and the Metrodome deflated).
The teams, going to separate conferences in 2013-14, play one series in Minneapolis next season on Nov. 22-23. In 2014-15 and 2015-16 the teams will have home-and-home series, said Minnesota coach Don Lucia.
UMD expects to have sophomore center Caleb Herbert back in the lineup this weekend after missing three games because of injury.
