Kelsie Scott and team scoring leader Lauren Smith (on a power play) scored goals three minutes apart for a 2-0 lead after two periods. Smith, a senior, has 20 goals this season and 40 in her career in 133 games.
UMD scoring leader Jenna McParland cut the margin to 2-1 with 7:07 to play. The sophomore forward has 10 goals this season and 31 in 61 career games.
Sophomore Erin Krichiver earned her first collegiate victory with 39 saves for Mankato (10-16-3, 6-14-3 WCHA).
UMD (13-11-3, 12-10-1) outshot Mankato 40-25. The Bulldogs have lost three straight games.
