Minnesota Duluth nearing end of home season; Carson Soucy; Outdoors with North Dakota and Nebraska-Omaha

Minnesota Duluth has just three regular-season home series remaining in 2012-13, just two in the WCHA, starting with No. 11-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato at 7:37 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday (94.1 FM and My9).

Rink and Run talked Wednesday with the most recent UMD recruit, defenseman Carson Soucy of Irma, Alberta (just south of Edmonton), who plays with Spruce Grove of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. A story will appear in the News Tribune later this week.

Soucy, 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, visited Duluth on Jan. 11 (during the Michigan Tech series). He said he also took recruiting trips to Alaska Fairbanks, Vermont and the University of Massachusetts. The Spruce Grove web site has an update here.
