Wisconsin (0-2) is headed to Duluth to open the WCHA season Friday and Saturday against No. 14 Minnesota Duluth (2-2) at 7:07 p.m. at Amsoil Arena (94X FM and My9).
It is the only time the teams meet during the regular season and it could mark the final trip to Duluth for the Badgers for some time. The teams head in separate directions next year and aren’t scheduled to play in 2013-14.
Badger Bob Johnson never liked the ice at the DECC and Jeff Sauer had a lengthy losing streak for a time versus the Bulldogs. Mike Eaves is 4-6-2 the last 12 games against UMD, but 3-2-1 the last six in Duluth.
UMD coach Scott Sandelin indicated this week that there wouldn’t be any major lineup changes for the Wisconsin series and there were no significant injuries from last week’s series at Notre Dame.

Not to be outdone, St. Scholastica and Wisconsin-Superior are also moving out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and into new leagues for 2013-14.
