The schedule says the 2012-13 college hockey season opens this week. OK.
Ohio State of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association is at Amsoil Arena on Friday and Saturday against Minnesota Duluth at 7:07 p.m. (My9 and 94X FM, and expecting a News Tribune live blog, just something different from Cover it Live, which the News Tribune had used the last couple of years).
UMD is No. 12 in Monday’s USA Hockey-USA Hockey Magazine poll and No. 13 in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll here.
The Buckeyes were 15-15-5 last season and tied for eighth in the 11-team CCHA, and are coached by old Wisconsin teammates Mark Osiecki of Burnsville, Minn., and Steve Rohlik of St. Paul (oh, and a former star UMD assistant coach). Ohio State was home Sunday night against the University of Waterloo (Ontario) in a 3-2 overtime victory. A box score is here.
