Former Grandma’s Marathon winner Kipyego claims 2012 Twin Cities Marathon title

Kenyan Christopher Kipyego won the men’s title in Sunday’s 31st Twin Cities Marathon in 2 hours, 14 minutes, 55 seconds in the 26.2-mile race from Minneapolis to. St. Paul.

Former Grand Valley State runner Jeannette Faber of Boston led the the women’s race in 2:32:38.

Kipyego, 38, won the closest finish in Grandma’s Marathon history in 2011, placing first in 2:12:17. Travel problems this year kept him from defending his title on June 16.
