When Grandma’s Marathon began in 1977, the organizing group behind the effort was the North Shore Striders of Northeastern Minnesota — a hard core and citizen runners club, led by Scott Keenan. The club faded by 1988, but is being revived with the help of some seed money from Grandma’s Marathon, which turns 35 this week.
