Czech Republic beats U.S. in shootout

The Czech Republic beat the United States in a shootout 2-1 Tuesday night in an exhibition preceding the World Junior Championships in Rochester, N.Y.

The Czech Republic scored on two of three shootout attempts. Kyle Palmieri and Chris Kreider missed on U.S. chances, while Jeremy Morin scored. The score was 2-2 through overtime.

The U.S. previously lost to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a shootout Sunday in Troy, N.Y.

The United States will announce its official World Junior Championships roster Wednesday with Minnesota Duluth freshman defenseman Justin Faulk and North Dakota freshman defenseman Derek Forbort of Duluth expected to make the team. The tournament begins Sunday in Buffalo, N.Y.
