Guyer, Garner, Kylander-Johnson

Anchorage Daily News writer Doyle Woody notes that former Aces center Gino Guyer of Coleraine is heading to Lillehammer, Norway, to play this season. He had 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points last season in 59 games with Bakersfield (Calif.) in the East Coast Hockey League.

And in the world of mountain bike racing, Sara Kylander-Johnson of Duluth was third in the women’s division of Saturday’s 10th Ore-to-Shore 48-mile race from Negaunee to Marquette, Mich. Jenna Rinehart of Mankato, Minn., was first in 2:47:59, Kylander-Johnson finished in 2:53:35 and Diana McFadden of Duluth was fourth in 2:58:38.

Also a couple of updates on Minnesota Duluth men’s equipment manager Chris Garner, recovering from a bone marrow transplant, from the Chris Garner Support and Benefit Page:

This was from Saturday — “Chris is still spiking a fever every so often, the good news is the CT scan results today were negative. Chris started to noticed his hair is falling out today. This week was a little tougher than the last, but he is still positive. Thanks for the prayers.”

And this from Wednesday — “Chris has been feeling so much better these past days. No more fever or headaches and is loving it.”
