If you’d like an indepth question-and-answer piece with Kara Goucher talking about pregnancy and a look to the 2012 Summer Olympics, Runner’s World has that for you HERE.The story, written by Peter Gambaccini, touches on many subjects including Goucher’s possible next marathon in preparation for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, with an excerpt below:
Runner’s World: This will obviously have to be re-evaluated after the birth of your child, but we assume you’ve had conversations with coach Alberto Salazar about a spring 2011 marathon. Assuming all goes well, do you think from October 1 to April, you could regain quite a bit of your fitness and speed?
Kara Goucher: We’ll have to see how it goes. It’s a goal in pencil, it’s not a goal in pen, to be ready to run the Boston Marathon, honestly. We know it probably won’t be my best marathon ever but we don’t think there’s any reason why it couldn’t be a really good solid one. Just with the placement of the U.S. Olympic Trials (in January of 2012) and everything, it really might be my only chance to run a marathon (before the Trials). But if I’m not ready, we’ll not do it.
