Duluthians Jeremy Polson and Jennifer Houck won titles in Sunday’s 12th Brian Kraft Memorial 5-Kilometer run at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. The road race is recognized as Minnesota 5K state championship and celebrates the life of the former Bemidji, Minn., runner.
Polson, 31, led a field of 506 to win in 14 minutes, 43 seconds, a state record for 31-year-olds, breaking Vince Temu’s 2002 mark of 14:47. Houck, 25, a former Cromwell athlete, was first in the women’s field in 17:09, while Katie Koski, 36, of Duluth was fifth in 17:56.
Second overall was Chris Lundstrom, 33, of Minneapolis in 14:44, and second in the women’s field was Amy Lyons, 23, of Mounds View, Minn., in 17:20.
