Olsen named to Canadian Team





Minnesota Duluth recruit Dylan Olsen of Calgary, Alberta, has been named to Canada’s entry in the World Under-18 Championships starting Thursday in Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn.

Olsen, a defenseman, played for Camrose in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season and had 36 points in 63 games. He’s expected to sign a letter of intent with UMD for 2009-10 when the signing period opens Wednesday.

r UMD recruit Mike Seidel has been named most valuable player for the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) RoughRiders. Seidel, a forward from Darien, Ill., is fourth in scoring in the U.S. Hockey League with 28 goals and 43 assists for 71 points in 57 games with one game left in the regular season. Cedar Rapids is 36-17-5.
